Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty)
A common plastic surgery procedure that will
tighten abdomen muscles and remove excess fat and skin.
WHAT IT DOES:
Best suited to help patients who can’t lose excess fat in the
lower abdominal region.
BEST CANDIDATES:
Men with excess localized fat deposits on the body.
LENGTH:
1 to 4 hours
RECOVERY:
Bruising and swelling for 2 to 6 weeks. Requires wearing a girdle or
liposuction garment for 3 to 6 weeks.
BACK TO WORK:
Two to four days
COST: Please visit our Costs and Financing page for the latest information.
For individuals with a problem with excess
abdominal fat or skin, or those who have undergone bariatric surgery,
Abdominoplasty can help with sculpting the mid-body region. Also known
as a “tummy tuck,” this surgical procedure involves tightening
of the abdominal muscles and excising excess tissue.
Dr. Giunta typically will create an entry
incision just below the pubic area. He will then tighten the abdominal
wall muscles and remove excess fat and skin. There will be swelling
in the area and you may experience pain. These are normal after an Abdominoplasty.
Any pain or discomfort will be controlled with pain medication prescribed
by Dr. Giunta. Usually, you can return to normal activities with two
to three days, but it may take up to eight weeks for all swelling and
bruising to disappear. During the recovery process, you’ll have
to wear a compression garment to help with healing.
